Interested in commissioning a piece of artwork? I'd love to help make that happen.

Here are a few questions you should consider...

  • What media (oil, watercolor, graphite, etc.) do you prefer?
  • What size (or size range) are you considering?
  • What is your budget?
  • What is your deadline?
  • Do you have a specific image or photograph in mind?
  • Do you feel strongly that certain colors should or should not be be included in the painting?

Prices for commissioned pieces vary depending on size and media (oil paint, watercolor, graphite, etc.) Once you decide which media you'd like I will happily send you an estimate.

This price includes initial sketches, thumbnails, and studies for your approval and all materials/supplies. For oil paintings, I normally use gallery wrapped canvas (so framing is optional) or panel but I can work on whatever surface you'd like.  I ask for 1/2 the estimated cost upfront as a non-refundable deposit and the final payment once the painting is complete. I will send updates regularly for your approval or adjustments.  During these milestones please make sure you mention as early as possible if something isn’t working for you.

If you are in the Memphis area, in addition to the emailed “in progress” images, we can schedule a studio visit so you can view your painting in person.

As a future member of my collector family you are very involved in this process.  Before sending your final invoice and/or shipping your painting, I will e-mail you a final image of your commission for your approval.

Thank you for your interest. Please feel free to email me (sam@samanthasherry.com) for an estimate or if you have any additional questions.
